Concept of Self Respect (Khudi)


*.    Nigah-e-faqr main shaan-e-sikandari kya hai?
       Khiraaj ki jo gada ho, wo qaiseri kya hai?
       Falaq nay ki hai ata un ko khaajgi kay jinhain
       Khabar nahin rawish-e-banda parwari kya hai?
       Kissey nahin hai tamanna-e-sarwari lekin
       Khudi ki mout ho jis main, wo sarwari kya hai?
       Buton say tujh ko umeedain, Khuda say no meedi
       Mujhey bata tou sahi aur kaafri kya hai?
 
(Meanings: Nigah-e-Faqr  main shan-e-sikandari kya hai = What is the worth of kingdom in eyes of a saint?; Khiraj ki jo gada ho, wo qeseri kya hai = Such a rule in which ruler is always worried about keeping it secure, is worthless; Falaq = Nature; Khaajgi = Ruling class; Khabar nahin = Ignored; rawish-e-banda parwari = Sense of serving humanity; tamanna-e-sarwari = Desires to rule; Khudi ki mout ho jis main wo sarwari kya hai = Such rule is insulting to gain which, self respect is required to be sacrificed; Buton = Idols (referring to fellow human beings here); umeedain = Expectations; no meedi = Disappointment; Kaafri = Non Muslim who donot believe in Oneness of God)

        Jis rizq say aati ho, parwaz main kotahi

        Allah kay sheron ko, aati nahin rubaahi
 
(Meanings: Tair-e-Lahooti = Simile, addressing to Muslim youth; Rizq = food/income; Kotahi = Laziness, denotatively and connotatively referring to slavery here; Aain-e-Jawanmardi = Conditions to live with dignity; Haq goi = Honesty; Bay Baaqi = Bravery; Rubaahi = cunningness, hypocrisy)

       Allah karey tujh ko ata Fuqr ki talwaar

*.    Wo kal kay gham-o-aish per kuch Haq nahin rakhta
       Jo aaj khud afroz-o-jigar soz nahin hai
       Wo qaum nahin laiq-e-hangama-e-farda
       Jis qaum ki taqdeer main imroz nahin hai
 
(Meanings: gham-o-aish = thick n' thin; khud afroz-o-jigar soz = A person with motivation and determination; Laiq-e-hangama-e-farda = worthy to survive anymore; imroz = Present)

       Tu jhuka jab ghair key aagey, na tann tera na mann
       Apney mann main dub kay pa ja suragh-e-zindagi
       Tu agar mera nahi banta, na ban, apna tou bann
 
(Meanings: paani paani ho gaya = ashamed of oneself; Qalander = Saint; Ghair = Stranger (British here); tann and mann = Body and Soul; suragh-e-zindagi = Connotatively referring to secrets to live prestigious life)

       Iss dasht say behter hai na Dilli na Bukhara
       Jis simt main chahey, sift-e-sal-e-rawan chal
       Wadi ye hamari hai, wo sehra bhi hamara

       Pehnati hai derwaish ko taj-e-sir-e-dara
       Afraad kay haathon main hai akwaam ki taqdeer
       Her fard hai millat kau muqaddar ka sitara
       Deen haath say dey ker agar azad ho millat
       Hai aisi tijarat main Musalaman ka khasara

       Lahu garm rakhney ka hai ik bahana
       Parindon ki duniya ka derwesh hon main
       Kay shaheen banata nahin aashiyana

       Wo dagh-e-mohabbat dey, jo chand ko sherma dey
       Ihsaas inayat ker aasar-e-museebat ka
       Imroz ki shorish main andesha-e-farda dey
       Main bulbul-e-nalan hun ik ujray gulistan ka
      Taseer ka sa'il hun, mohtaaj ko Datta dey

       Kholi hain zoq-e-deed nay aankhain teri agar
       Her rehguzar main naqsh-e-kaf-e-paay-e-yaar dekh

       Aah! ye gulshan nahin aisey taraney kay liyey

        Meri saadgi dekh, kya chahta hon

        Bara bayadab hon, saza chahta hon
 
*.    Ye Hind kay firqa saaz Iqbal aazri ker rahey hain goya
        Bacha kay daamin buton say apna ghubar-e-rah-e-Hijaz ho ja

       Siddique kay liyey hai Khuda ka Rasool (PBUH) bas
 
*.    Aag hai, aulad-e-Ibraheem (PBUH) hai, namrud hai
       Kya Kisi ko phir kisi ka imtihan maqsood hai?
 
*.    Khatar pasand tabiat ko saazgaar nahin
       Wo gulistan kay jahan ghaat main na ho sayyad
        Muqam-e-shok terey qudsiyon kay bas ka nahin
       Unheen ka kaam hai ye jin kay hosley hain Zayyad
 
*.    Jalal-e-paadshahi ho, ya jamhoori tamasha ho
       Juda ho deen syasat say, tou reh jaati hai chengezi
 
*.    Issi Quran main hai ab tark-e-jahan ki taleem
       Jis nay momin ko banaya may-o-perween ka amin
       Tan ba taqdeer hai aaj un kay amal ka andaz
        Thi nihan jin kay iradon main Khuda ki taqdeer
 
*.    Hai mamlakat-e-Hind main yek terfa tamasha
       Islam hai mehboos, Mullah hai azaad
 
*.    Wajud-e-zan say hai tasweer-e-kaynat main rang
       Issi kay saaz say hai zindagi ka soz-e-darun
       Sharf main berh kay surrayya say masht-e-khaak iss ki
       Kay her sharf hai ussi darj ka dur-e-maknu
 
*.    Mashriq say ho bayzaar, na maghrib say hazar ker
       Fitrat ka ishara hai kay her shab ko seher ker
 
*.    Na Asia main, na Europe main soz-o-saz-e-hayaat
       Khudi ki mout hai ye, aur wo zameer ki mout
       Dilon main walwala-e-inqilaab hai paida
       Qareeb aa gayi shayad jahan-e-peer ki mout
 
*.    Main kar-e-jahan say nahin aagah hon lekin
       Arbab-e-nazar say nahin poshida koi raaz
       Ker tu bhi hakoomat kay waziron ki khushamad
       dastoor naya aur nayey dour ka aaghaz
 
*.    Teri hareef hai ya Rabb! syasat-e-afrang
        Magar hain iss kay pujari faqat ameer-o-raees
        Banaya aik hi Iblees aag say TU nay
        banayey khaak say iss nay dou sa'd hazar iblees
 
*.    Tera pesha hai saffaki, mera pesha hai saffaki
        Kay hum kazzak hain dono, tu maidani, main daryai
 
*.    Teri dua say qaza tou badal nahin sakti
        Magar hai iss say ye mumkin kay tu badal jayey
        Teri dua hai kay ho teri aarzu poori
        Meri dua hai teri aarzu badal jayye
 
*.    Aaj wo Kashmir hai mehkoom-o-majboor-o-faqeer
       Kal jissey ahle-e-nazar kehtey thay Iran-e-sagheer
 
*.    Mumkin hai kay tu jis ko samjhta hai baharan
       Auron ki nigahon main wo mosam ho khizan ka
        Shayad kay zameen hai ye kissi aur jahan ki
        Tu jisko samajhta hai falak apney jahan ka
 
*.    Mutmain hai tu, pareshan misl-e-bu rehta hon main
       Zakhmi-e-shamsheer zoq-e-justuju rehta hon main
 
*.    Iqbal bhi Iqbal say aagah nahin hai
       Kuch iss main tamaskhar nahin, Wallah nahin hai
